Background

Eric Hougan, a classroom teacher and 2008-9 Phi Delta Kappa Emerging Leader, created the Road to Teaching website for future, student, and beginning teachers. The purpose of this website is to deliver relevant and useful content to preservice and beginning teachers in the form of strategies,stories, education links, and education resources. 

Eric Hougan further provides insights for beginning and student teachers through his book, Road to Teaching: A Guide to Teacher Training, Student Teaching, and Finding a Job.  Road to Teaching addresses the three important phases on the journey to becoming an educator: teacher training, student teaching, and obtaining a job.  It offers 50 practical strategies on relevant topics such as how to establish classroom management, create a healthy relationship with your cooperating teacher, and perform well in an interview.  Additionally, the book offers valuable resources and first-hand advice from cooperating teachers and principals.  This is a perfect book for the future or student teacher in your life.
